Flora Doehler

The relationship between colour, texture and the natural world is what Flora Doehler likes to explore in her work.

Flora’s artistic influences range from the Canadian Group of Seven approach to landscape, the German Expressionist use of colour and the contemporary Californian colourists play with texture. The infinite patterns and symbols in nature all find their way into her paintings.

In the late sixties, Flora studied fine arts and craft at the Art Centre at Central Technical School, Toronto and graduated with a love for painting, printmaking and weaving.
Flora loves to garden and grows a vast array of plants and flowers as subjects for her paintings. Flora was born and lived most of her life in downtown Toronto and relocated to Bear River, Nova Scotia in 2007.
